Amongst the many stimulating sessions at the mHealth Conference and Expo in Dubai this month, Creation Healthcare took our usual approach of catching key thought leaders with the FlipHD camera. In the first of a series of short Creation Healthcare YouTube videos from Dubai, experts speak about the future of mHealth. They present a unified view that it is the developing world leading the way in mHealth, because the need is great for connectivity and the mobile device is more ubiquitous than even fixed phones, computers, water, or electricity.
Shainoor Khoja suggests that in the developed world, the established systems and protocols for delivering health are so embedded in the culture that there is no pressing need to find new ways for connectivity or information provision.
Almost unanimously, the thought that mHealth is an entity of its own has been rejected in favour of a more holistic ‘eHealth strategy’, where Public/Private partnerships unite to solve problems around funding and the transmission of health information.
