What Do HCPs Think the Future of Oncology Treatment Looks Like?

In healthcare, the field of oncology is where some of the biggest battles are yet to be won. According to the World Health Organisation, cancer caused nearly 10 million deaths in 2022, accounting for almost one in six deaths globally. With such a significant impact, understanding the future of oncology treatment is essential.

In our white paper, “What do HCPs think the future of oncology treatment looks like?”, we explored the insights and opinions of online healthcare professionals (eHCPs) across Europe. These experts are at the forefront of sharing the latest trials, data releases, and their clinical experiences.

Analysing the conversations of eHCPs across Europe, we focused on six of the most discussed emerging therapies over 12 months:

  • Immunotherapies
  • Targeted Treatments
  • CAR-T Cell Therapies
  • Antibody-Drug Conjugates
  • Vaccines for Cancer
  • Radiopharmaceutical Therapies

Over 3,500 EU-based eHCPs posted about emerging oncology treatments in 2023; a significant amount of this emerging conversation happened during medical congress meetings, where a large amount of new data was discussed. Other drivers in conversation include mainstream news and government and manufacturer updates.

The largest eHCP conversations about vaccines for cancer occurred in April and May; both months saw presentations on the topic at congress meetings (AACR and ASCO respectively).

In February 2023, CAR T-cell therapy peaked during the 5th European CAR T-cell meeting hosted by EBMT (European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation) and EHA (European Haematology Association).

CREATION.co has studied the nuance of the online conversation to discover HCPs’ views on the potential of each treatment to impact the future of oncology care, or if data suggests other avenues should be prioritised.

In the full white paper discover HCPs’ views, through their online conversations, in these areas:

  • Does immunotherapy still have a place in the future of oncology care?
  • Will vaccines for cancer change the game?
  • How has targeted therapy impacted cancer treatment?
  • Is there excitement about antibody-drug conjugates?
  • What are the breakthroughs and challenges of CAR T-cell therapy
  • Are they positive about radiopharmaceutical therapies?
