Study on 100,000 HCPs using Twitter wins at DIA conference.

LONDON, Sept 24, 2014 –  Creation Healthcare presented the results of their study on HCPs using Twitter in the form of a poster at the DIA European Medical Information and Communications Conference and were named top of all displayers. DIA commented on the company’s clarity of visual communication. The conference took place in London from 23rd-24th September 2014.

The study was carried out using Creation Pinpoint®, the company’s unique technology for studying healthcare professionals in public social media.  Research has found that physicians and other healthcare professionals are increasingly using public social media to collaborate with one another across countries and in multiple languages.

Creation Pinpoint® has a growing database of healthcare professional social media profiles on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, blogs, and forums.

In the study, 100,625 healthcare professionals were manually reviewed by Creation Healthcare’s Data Quality Team to ensure authenticity and to determine the role and location of the individual. The poster was produced to illustrate the global distribution and analysis of the behaviors of healthcare professionals using Twitter.

The study found that 45% of all healthcare professionals using Twitter can be found in North America, with a further 22% based in Europe.  English is the language most used by the healthcare professionals on Twitter at 65%, followed by Spanish at 12%. The third most common language is Japanese (7.65%) showing an increasing number of HCPs using Twitter in the Near/Far East region. Healthcare professionals in this region have the most followers on average at 2,002.

Daniel Ghinn, Founder and CEO of Creation Healthcare said, “It is a real honour to see our research recognised at the DIA Medical Information and Communications Conference. This highlights how important the role of social media is becoming to the pharmaceutical industry in understanding their healthcare professional customers. It also recognises the hard work of our whole research team and Chief Innovation Officer Paul Grant, who led the analysis for this global HCP Twitter study.”

Creation Healthcare’s Chief Innovation Officer, Paul Grant, presented a version of the poster at Stanford University’s Medicine X conference earlier this month.
