The latest insights from eHCPs mentioning the Top 50 Pharmaceutical Companies

The five pharmaceutical companies that were mentioned the most by eHCPs on X (Twitter) in July 2023 were Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, GSK and Lilly.

CREATION.co identified 10,143 eHCP mentions of pharmaceutical companies in July 2023, decreasing by just under 2% from the previous month.

A tornado with 150 mph wind speeds in North Carolina damaged a Pfizer facility on 20 July –  generating a lot of eHCP conversation. It was believed that 50,000 pallets of medications were damaged at the time of reporting.

eHCPs took the opportunity to discuss the implications of the damage, with some stating that it could affect the availability of medicines for hospitals. The facility was responsible for the production of many different drugs, from anaesthetics to painkillers. Some eHCPs showed concern for potential shortages in the supply to US hospitals.

Outside of the tornado conversation, many eHCPs posted about the news sharing the FDA had approved the Daiichi Sankyo product Vanflyta (quizartinib). The drug was approved for the treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia. The news was shared by 14 eHCPs following its approval on 20 July.

Yanin Chávarri, an oncologist, shared a post thanking Pfizer and ASCO for their grants to improve cancer patient care for patients with metastatic breast cancer. Two other eHCPs also shared the post.

The top shared links by eHCPs when mentioning a Top 50 pharma company discussed:

  1. A YouTube video by an online news show discussing Bristol Myers Squibb’s product, Abilify.
  2. An article referring to the Novavax vaccine for SARS-CoV-2.
  3. An article discussing the production of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines.

    • In July 2023, CREATION Pinpoint® identified 10,143  healthcare professional authored posts on X (Twitter) from 4,057 individual eHCPs mentioning a Top 50 Pharmaceutical company (according to revenue). 
    • Data for this research was analysed from the online X conversations of eHCPs in all languages mentioning a Top 50 Pharmaceutical company between 01 July and 31 July 2023.
  • Unless otherwise specified, mentions of a company are not limited to its X account(s).
  • In some cases, an X post may mention more than one company account (e.g. @abbottnews and @abbottglobal) – this only counts as one Company Mention and Account Mention.
  • Johnson & Johnson was included as a whole, encompassing its pharmaceutical subsidiary, Janssen. In July 2023, 208 of these posts mentioned Janssen.
